Glyphy is used by children, so the shortest honest answer matters most: we do not collect anything about you or your child. No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking. What a child has practised stays on their own device and is never sent anywhere.
The rest of this page says the same thing in more detail, including the places where somebody other than us is involved — the company that serves this website, YouTube where the videos are, and the app store you buy from.
This website
getglyphy.com is a handful of static files. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads nothing from anybody else — no third-party fonts, no embedded videos, no social widgets, no advertising or tracking scripts of any kind. Nothing you do here is recorded by us, and there is no account to make.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives your IP address and browser details in the ordinary course of sending you the page, and keeps them briefly to keep the service running and to deal with abuse. We never see those records, and we have not switched on Cloudflare's analytics. Cloudflare's own privacy policy covers what it does with them.
Links to our YouTube, Instagram, X, TikTok, Facebook and Pinterest profiles are ordinary links. We do not embed those platforms here, so they learn nothing about you unless you choose to follow a link — at which point you are on their site, under their policy.
The videos
Our videos are on YouTube, and watching them happens on YouTube, under Google's privacy policy — we are not told who watches. They are marked as made for children, so YouTube switches off comments and personalised advertising on them. We do not embed them on this site.
The app
The Glyphy app works without a signal and without an account. Every letter, every voice recording and every picture it needs is already inside it. It makes no request to any server of ours, because we do not run one for it.
It keeps a small amount of information on the device itself, and nowhere else:
- which letters have been watched and traced, and the stars earned
- your settings — the guide lines, the writing speed, sound on or off, left-handed or right-handed
None of that is sent to us and none of it identifies anybody. Deleting the app deletes it. The app asks for one permission, vibration, so the board can be felt under a finger; it does not use the camera, the microphone, the contacts or the location.
Buying a language pack
Purchases are handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play. You pay them, not us. They tell us that a purchase happened so the app can unlock what you bought — they do not give us your name, your address or your card, and we never ask for them. Refunds and receipts are theirs to handle, under their own terms and privacy policies.
Our YouTube upload tool
We put our own videos on our own YouTube channel with a small tool of ours, registered with Google as Glyphy Uploader. It is not a service anybody else can use: the only Google account that has ever signed in to it is ours, and it never touches yours.
It asks Google for one permission,
youtube.upload, which lets it upload a video and set its
thumbnail and nothing else — it cannot read, change or delete anything on
the channel. The access token Google issues is kept on our own computer,
is used only to upload our videos, and is never shared, sold or used for
advertising. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the
Google API Services User Data Policy,
including its Limited Use requirements, and the
YouTube Terms of Service
apply to everything it uploads. Access can be withdrawn at any time at
myaccount.google.com/permissions,
which deletes it on Google's side.
Children
Glyphy is made for young children learning to write, normally sitting with a parent. We collect no personal data from anyone, which includes children: there is no profile to build, no identifier to follow between apps, nothing shared with advertisers or data brokers, and no way for a child to send anything out of the app. There is no chat, no user content and no link out to the open web inside it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to see the personal data an organisation holds about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, and to complain to a supervisory authority. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to show you or erase — but if you think otherwise, write to us and we will answer.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. If a future version of Glyphy ever collects something, it will be described here before it does, not after.
